On June 14th, I’m making my marriage to Kate Boelky official in the eyes of the State of Ohio. To me we are already married in all of the spiritual senses of the word, but it’s been wonderful to see how many people are excited for us. Besides, it’s an excellent excuse to throw a party!
Now, a smart man would figure out a way to lesson his workload in a month that he is also planning a wedding. I guess I’m notso smartso, since I’ve managed to make June one of the busiest months for Nix Comics ever.
Here’s a quick list of what’s going on, presented maybe more for my benefit than yours:
So far I’ve received 29 responses to the Nix Comics Quarterly #7 call for artist. I expect a few more before the June 10th deadline. I do take the time to read all of the emails and check all of the links provided, so the call is pretty time consuming on my end. For all of you deadline pushing types, I do suggest that you get your email in to me sooner than later if you’d like to be considered for this gig.
This sale is kind of a home grown “all swag” kickstarter. I would like to make some more T-Shirts with the designs Ryan Brinkerhoff created for me 3 years ago, but can only afford to do so if I get at least 12 pre-orders per design. So far two designs have reached that minimum order level. The Magic Hands design needs 4 more pre-orders. If you’re considering ordering T-Shirt, the sale ends June 30th and you won’t be charged until shirts are ready for delivery subsequent to that.
After a one week break, Sketch in the City is back in the Columbus Alive with Katie Valeska’s her Next Year’s Girl strip. She’ll have six week run to explore some of the reasons she ended up living in Columbus. I really hope that you all will help me out by letting the Alive know that you appreciate having local cartoons in the local entertainment weekly. Share the link. Run up some facebook posts and tweets. You know… do the things fans do.
Nix Comics for Kids:
Nix Comics for Kids was supposed to come out last month. It’s my fault that it didn’t make it! Basically the opportunities to put on the Wreckless Eric show and to curate Sketch In the City popped up and I couldn’t pass on them! Don’t worry, subscribers and retailers will have the latest adventures of Boy Howdie in just a couple of weeks!
On June 17th at Spoonful Records, Wreckless Eric will play a show at Spoonful Records. There are still some tickets left, but not many. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Derby City Con:
I’m pretty excited to wrap up the month down in Louisville for Derby City Con. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the show and I hope some of my Kentucky fans come out to see me!
