Here’s some good news: The juices are finally flowing a little on all things Nix Rock ‘n Roll Comics! I’ve posted a new Nix Single. There is movement on the Nix trade paperbacks. A daily cartoon exercise titled “Conversations with My Inner Demons” will likely turn into a… I dunno… webcomic? Anyways here’s the Scoop:

Nix Single #4:
As some of you may recall, around two years ago I started doing poster-zines titled “Nix Singles” with the idea that I could whip ‘em out quick, Just a few pages of drawings and text, one 11×17 poster, and I could print/fold them on my own. Well, all this time later I finally put the time and energy into a 4th issue.  Anyways, they’re cool. Nix Single #4 is the first thing I’ve published in a good while. I encourage you to grab one or two as an add-on to a back issues order.

Nix Trade Paperbacks:
Did I really plan to start preselling these back in January? Yeah. Did things work out that way? Nope!  But I’ve steadily pecked away at it this first half of the year and have finally gotten things to the point where I can share previews with a collaborator. (That collaborator being Eric Davidson of the New Bomb Turks and author of “We Never Learn.”) I’ve asked Eric to provide short suggested soundtracks for each book, which kind of brings things full circle as way back in the hinter-years, Eric was one of the primary people introducing me to the artists and record labels that would form my tastes. And of course my musical tastes were he foundation of Nix Comics. 

Anyways… Watch this space, as they say. Fingers AND toes crossed, I will likely launch a pre-sale campaign next month. Maybe with some sorta launch party?

Conversations with My Inner Demons:For about four journals now, I’ve been trying to do at least one four panel cartoon a day in which I face off against personifications of my anxieties, compulsions, and neuroses. They are rough, but I think there’s something good in them.  I’m working out a plan where I can start sharing some tightened up versions with the world. Maybe just a webcomic on this blog? Maybe a substack or patreon?  I’m not positive how, but I’m pretty sure I’ll being doing something along those lines.

As is implied by my word cloud dealio, “Various Artists” was my thing in June. I had two separate deep dives into compilations. The first was a run through a bunch of 70s/80s punk comps, mostly small to medium size record label samplers. The other was a run through my four Estrus 7” Boxsets. Both times I was thinking about how the compilation style records have influenced Nix Comics, particularly the how they compare to anthology style comics that have influenced me (EC Comics and Warren magazines in particular.)
